Recommendations

Miele Vacuum Cleaners are far and away the best vacuum cleaners I have ever used, and I've used a lot of vacuum cleaners!

They are pricey, but they are a great value. I once used a client's Miele that was over twenty years old, and it still looked and worked like new.

Here is a list of what I love about these machines.

• They are comfortable to use.
• They are quiet.
• They are designed to contain the dust. When you open the machine to empty the bag, the inside is as dust-free as the outside, even when the machine is twenty years old.
• The bags look small, but they really do hold a lot of dirt.
• They are durable.
• The cord retractor is well designed: just the right amount of power to get the job done without whipping the cord around.
• On most models, the most used attachments are stored inside the machine.
• The attachements. My favorites:
  • The bare floor attachment is designed to maximize the airflow so that it sucks up all the hair and dust.
  • The power head for carpet is the best for getting the dirt from deep in the carpet.
  • The air turbo head doesn't look like much, but it does a good job on rugs and low pile carpet.
  • And I make good use of the crevice tool, dust brush, and upholstery brush (another tool that doesn't look like it would work that well, but it really does).

Caveat: Miele, like some other companies with quality products, manufactures a knockoff of their own brand at a discounted price. Their lower end machines are manufactured in China of lower quality materials and are of poorer design. Even though they are part of the Miele brand, they are not made to the same standards as their German-made machines. I do not recommend those machines. However the ones made in Germany are excellent, and it is worth it to pay for the better machine. Note that that doesn't mean that you have to buy the top of the line model.

Note: Miele knows nothing about my recommendation, and I get not even a penny of compensation from them. I strongly believe that accepting money for a recommendation immediately destroys my credibility. If you want a vacuum that will serve you well for a very long time, you won't go wrong with a Miele, and I just wanted to share that. When I learn that a new client has a Miele, I do a happy dance, and I congratulate them on their fine taste!
